Sant’Egidio community willing to support peacekeeping in Mozambique
An intense heatwave is expected to hit the provinces of Maputo and Gaza today and tomorrow, with temperatures as high as 36-39 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM), the heatwave will end with showers or moderate rainfall of between 20 and 30 millimeters in 24 hours, starting on Wednesday evening.
According to the INAM press release, the rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 60 kilometers per hour.
INAM lists as the areas likely to be affected Matutuíne, Boane, Namaacha, Manhiça, Marracuene, Moamba, Magude and the cities of Maputo and Matola in Maputo province, and the districts of Bilene, Guijá, Mabalane, Massingir, Massagena, Chibuto, Chicualacuala, Chigubo and Chókwè and Xai-xai cities in Gaza.
The INAM recommends taking precautionary and safety measures relevant to high temperatures, gusty winds and severe thunderstorms.
