Districts once plagued by insurgents were sleeping on high alert because of rumours that Eid al-Fitr would be celebrated in an atmosphere of war.
However, former combatants in the district of Mueda managed to identify a group of insurgents in the village of Diaca – Mueda on the 11th and 12th of this month, allegedly planning to create unrest and rustle cattle away to their bases in the woods and there celebrate Eid.
“We were sent to confuse you and carry off cattle and chickens,” surviving insurgents told their captors, a group of former combatants in the village of Diaca. They in turn report that some of the insurgents had escaped, but most had been captured and taken to Mueda Sede.
This is the second serious setback that insurgents have experienced since the attack on Palma.
