Insurgents move in Cabo Delgado – Mediafax report

With their arrival and occupation of the village of Matambalale, the terrorist saga in Muidumbe reached the tenth of the twelve villages which make up the administrative division of that Cabo Delgado district .

With the almost complete takeover of Muidumbe, and taking into account that one of the major objectives of the insurgents is to take Mueda, which houses the Northern Operational Command of the Defence and Security Forces, the population of this last district is in fear.

In fact, since Wednesday, reports have been circulating that some people from the village of Mueda decided to anticipate them, by taking refuge in the forest because, allegedly, a terrorist attack on Cabo Delgado’s security heart would be imminent.

There is also information circulating that the position of the FDS that was in Matambalale had left the site and positioned itself in Miteda, which somehow meant that Mueda’s barriers to protection were being broken by the terrorist advance.

In Mueda, just over 20 thousand people have sought refuge, coming from various districts, particularly from Mocímboa da Praia, Muidumbe and Nangade.
