Mozambique: Terrorists behead two and burn down luxury camp - AIM report
A number of insurgents have been killed In Ntchinga and at the Muambula/Miteda crossroads in what is described as “fierce fighting” between the local Muidumbe militia and the terrorist groups that continue to circulate in some parts of northern Cabo Delgado.
MediaFax has learned that the confrontation took place on Thursday of last week at the Muambula/Miteda crossing, where a filling station previously operated. Shooting was also heard in the Ntchinga area, according to sources linked to the local militia.
A teacher in Muidumbe confirmed the confrontation, but was unable to give any indication of the actual results. He did however say that the local militia appeared willing to try to put an end to the insurgency in the region, despite their lack of what he called “sophisticated weaponry”.
Meanwhile, the news site Pinnacle News reported on May 13 that several insurgents were killed in the Diaca region, Mocímboa da Praia district, by militiamen from the district of Mueda, who are on constant patrol in the plateau area.
