The road between Inharrime and Panda districts in Inhambane province has been cut following heavy rain in the area since last Saturday.
The road was cut in the Chicodone region by a huge pothole, preventing the movement of vehicles in both directions, Inharrime administrator Elsa Tomo revealed.
Tomo further reported that the road leading to the Mocumbi region is also impassable.
“Here on National Road Number One (EN1), the main concern is that the rain has flooded the road, and motorists cannot see where the potholes are. So we are seeing cars immobilised because drivers have hit potholes and burst their tires,” she explained.
The rain has also flooded homes in Quissico municipal village, Zavala district, as well as access roads and extensive planted areas.
