Mozambique’s National Surfing Team, made up of athletes from Inhambane province, has made history by taking second place in the African Surfing Championship in Cabo Ledo, Angola.
The result represents a milestone for national surfing and projects Mozambique onto the African scene.
Individual results include:
Nia Lopez – 1st place in the Junior Women’s category;
Yurcia Nhambirre – 3rd place in the Cadet Women’s category;
Santiago Botelho – 4th place in the Cadet Men’s category;
Julia Fernando – 4th place in the Open Women’s category;
Mini Cho – 5th place in the Open Men’s category;
Cleiton Cadir – 5th place in the Junior Men’s category;
The team’s performance highlights the growing surfing talent in Inhambane province and will inspire a new generation of surfers in the country.
