Mozambique: Parliament's operational budget more than doubles to €80.3M this year

According to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), Mozambique’s rate of inflation in January, calculated on the basis of the consumer price indices of the three largest cities (Maputo, Nampula and Beira) was 0.4 per cent.
Most of the price rises in the month were for foodstuffs – coconuts (up by 15.8 per cent), lettuce (14.1 per cent), eggs (5.2 per cent) and fresh fish (1.7 per cent).
There were also some increases in the price of education. Fees went up in private primary education by 14.1 per cent, and charges in public secondary education rose by 19.2 per cent.
Inflation from 1 February 2017 to 31 January 2018 was 3.84 per cent. The January inflation is also a significant decline from the same month in 2017, when prices rose by 2.15 per cent.
The three cities had different levels of inflation in January. Maputo had the highest inflation, of 0.67 per cent, followed by Beira with 0.16 per cent. In Nampula, inflation was barely perceptible at 0.03 per cent.
