Indonesia cooperates with Mozambique on micro small business product marketing

The Indonesian government—through the Ministry of Cooperatives, Micro, and Small Businesses, has established cooperation with the Republic of Mozambique’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the field of commerce and promotion of products between the two countries, particularly products from micro and small businesses.

“The Mozambique representatives came to us wanting to extend the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed on 2010,” said Agus Muharam, Secretary to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro, Small Businesses after receiving a visit from Republic of Mozambique Ambassador Maria Gustava on Tuesday (1/24/2017).

Agus said the two countries expect to “revise the MoU to make it more focused and more realistic to implement [the MoU] to real programs in the field, as it relates to the micro and small business products of the two countries,” he said.

He continued that the cooperation will be directed to digital trading (e-commerce) development and training between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Maria Gustava said there are only a limited variety of products from Mozambique that are already in Indonesia markets. These include agriculture products and foodstuffs such as nuts.

“The products from Indonesia that can be accepted in Mozambique’s markets are fashion and accessory products. We expect the reaffirmation of the MoU with Indonesia to further srengthen the trade relationship of the two countries,” Maria added.
