Moderate to heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms could hit Cabo Delgado and Nampula from Thursday afternoon to the end of tomorrow, according to the National Institute of Meteorology forecast.
In Cabo Delgado, the bad weather will affect the districts of Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Macomia, Quissanga, Muidumbe, Metuge, Mecúfi and the city of Pemba. In Nampula, the districts expected to be worst affected are Eráti, Memba, Nacala, Island of Mozambique and Mossuril.
INAM says the rain is unlikely to cause flooding, but recommends that the population stay away from risk areas, especially in the northern districts of Cabo Delgado, where heavier rainfall is expected.
The forecast of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms comes at a time when the provinces affected are already endeavouring to recover from the damage caused by Cyclone Kenneth.
