Mozambique: Ressano Garcia border experiences peak return movement After festive season

The Mozambique National Meteorology Institute (INAM) forecasts heavy rains, severe thunderstorms and strong winds gusts in the provinces of Sofala and Manica and in some districts of the provinces of Tete, Inhambane and Gaza.
According to INAM, in the centre of the country, all districts of Sofala and Manica provinces and the districts of Changara, Mutarara, Doa, Maraia, Chifunde, Marara, Zumbo, Cahora Bassa, Moatize, Chiuta and city of Tete, in Tete province, will be affected.
In southern Mozambique, the districts considered at risk are Govuro, Inhassoro, Vilankulo, Mabote, Funhalouro, Morrumbene and Massinga, in Inhambane province, and the districts of Massangena, Chicualacuala, Mapai, Mabalane, Massingir and Chigubo, in Gaza province.
INAM forecasts persistent heavy to very heavy rains, winds with strong gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour and severe thunderstorms, due to continue into Thursday, March 21, in all of the above-mentioned areas.

In the provinces of Zambezia and Niassa, weak to moderate rains – sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds – are to be expected.
INAM calls for precautionary and safety measures in view of the risk associated with heavy rains, thunderstorms and very strong winds.
