The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) intends to put an end to the consumption of alcoholic beverages in stores or other outlets selling these products. Bottle stores are only licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, and customers are not allowed to consume them on the premises.
Liquor stores can operate from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. only, and owners of non-compliant stores will be penalised.
The INAE has also given warning about measures to be taken against owners of stores selling alcoholic drinks near schools.
The body has revealed that in the last 15 days it has inspected more than 700 establishments throughout the country, resulting in the seizure and destruction of more than 80,000 food products unfit for consumption and the closure of two establishments.
