Imperial Seguros Mozambique launches legal expenses insurance cover

Imperial Insurance Moçambique launched its Legal Expenses Insurance Cover the first of its kind at the Radisson Hotel on wed 16th November 2016.

Presenting the new product, the CEO Mr Tich Magore highlighted that at the cornerstone of the Company’s focus shall be innovation i.e. development and implementation of new and customer relevant products particularly in untapped markets.

Motivation for legal expenses insurance cover

The study by the Company has shown that the insuring public has very limited access to legal expenses insurance cover. Imperial’s Legal Expenses Insurance Product is typically a retail type of product i.e. it should be bought by members of the public who make up the society that is ranging from low to high income earners.

The Company’s study has shown that there is very limited access to legal expenses insurance protection to the insuring public across all age groups and classes of society as compared to other developed insurance markets where this kind of product is easily accessed through insurance brokers, banks, mobile companies and retail shops.

In the absence of an insurance policy that covers legal expenses just like the need for medical health insurance or motor vehicle insurance, the people could be deprived of protection against their legal rights, right to quality legal counsel, right to fair trial in the absence of legal representation if cases go to the courts and financial relief against unbudgeted legal defense costs.

It is against this background that Imperial Insurance saw it fit to develop and roll out this innovative insurance product at a cost that would be very affordable to the majority members of the society that needs the cover.

Civil Matters

Imperial’s legal expenses insurance policy covers civil matters such as breach of contracts ranging from debt collection, lease agreements drafting, syndicates contract drafting, memorandum of sale drafting, motor vehicle sale agreements, costs of repair to wills and many more civil related matters save for those specified/mentioned under the policy

Labour Matters

These include cases involving unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, unfair retrenchment, provision of legal advice in disciplinary hearings issues, provision of legal representation in disciplinary hearings issues where the setup allows employees to be represented by attorneys, unfair demotions

Family matters

These include cases involving child custody, divorce, child access, adoption, division of joint estate and many more family related matters save for those specified/mentioned under the policy

Criminal & Other matters

The policy also provides legal assistance for criminal matters including bail application and many others as specifically stated in the policy.

The product is ideally tailor made for individuals who may come in form of direct customers, staff schemes, organized groups such as member association and foreign nationals currently leaving and working in Moçambique.
