Mozambique: External donations secured in H1 total $110.8m

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, accompanied by Governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Rogério Zandamela, and staff from the Ministry of Economy and Finance is, from this Monday, participating in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C..
In Washington, Max Tonela expects to attend the High-Level Working Group on Global Financial Architecture meeting with African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Minister Tonela will also hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of international financial institutions, such as the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), Benedict Oramah; the World Bank’s Executive Director for Africa Group 1 Constituency (AfG1), Taufila Nyamadzabo; and the Executive Director at the African Development Bank Group, Joao Luis Ngimbi, who represents Mozambique on the AfDB board, among others.
Also in Washington, the Minister of Economy and Finance is scheduled to participate in the World Bank event “Scaling Up Action on Disaster Risk Reduction: A Critical Step for Climate Change Adaptation and Building Resilience”.
The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organisations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development and aid effectiveness.
Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world’s financial system. This year’s events take place in Washington, D.C., from October 10 to 16.
