A mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is making a working visit to Mozambique in March to assess the country’s macroeconomic development.
Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the Business Environment Monitoring Council promoted by the CTA, Ari Aisen, the resident representative of the International Monetary Fund in Mozambique, said that the basis for macroeconomic stability was “already well founded,” Radio Mozambique reports.
“The fundamentals for macroeconomic stability are already well founded and we hope that this year, 2019, will be a year of great growth, higher than in 2018, and that macroeconomic policies and the fiscal discipline that have been placed on the table will continue, even in this election year, and therefore we have room for much optimism and we will be discussing options in the future as well,” he said.
Ari Aisen added that the IMF mission could discuss options for future cooperation with Mozambique.
