President Filipe Nyusi held a half-hour meeting with Director-General of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde in the United States on Thursday.
The IMF may eventually unlock an amount of aid to Mozambique in the near future, ameliorating the country’s current financial crisis.
There is as yet no official announcement, but if true, the information could signal the resumption of business between Mozambique and the IMF following months of tense relations.
