Mozambique: 29 confirmed mpox cases, including the first in Maputo province
O País / Mozambique's minister of Education Jorge ferrão
The Minister of Education and Human Development, Jorge Ferrao, says that access to education in the country remains significantly more difficult for girls. The result is a staggering 71 percent illiteracy rate among women in Mozambique.
The minister says that not enough is being done to secure gender equality in the national education system, stressing that Mozambique must do more for girls of school age.
Early pregnancy and marriage are among the leading causes of girls dropping out of school, with the highest dropout rates occur in the central and northern regions of the country.
