Garbage scattered on the ground, overflowing containers and a nauseating smell characterize solid waste disposal locations in Machava and Infulene, Matola.
Along Avenida Josina Machel, for example, the bus stops at Coca-Cola, Tâmega and Bombas da Machava, all have their own trash islands. some old and some new, plus the always overflowing containers.
On Avenida das Indústrias, between Zuid, Cavalo Branco and the entrance to Bairro Trevo, rubbish has found a whole new habitat, especially the latter where, every day, it grows in plain sight.
