Mozambique: Chapo enacts law changing the National Defence and Security Council composition
Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama said yesterday in Tete that his party is not in favour of the division of the country, and that it stands for effective peace, national unity and development.
According to Jornal Notícias, Dhlakama, speaking to Renamo members by telephone, said that dialogue with President Nyusi, for the achievement of effective peace in the country was proceeding satisfactorily, which would permit an extension of the truce.
“That is why I will extend the truce within days. We are still monitoring the government’s correspondence. It cannot work on one side alone with the other side standing still. This is what caused problems after the Rome agreements,” the opposition leader said.
Afonso Dhlakama, quoted by Jornal Notícias, said that nobody wins with the war. “Now we are all negotiating as Mozambican brothers, we all win with peace in Mozambique.”
