Mozambique: Nacala gas-fired power plant project enters public consultation

ALER – Lusophone Renewable Energy Association and AMER – Mozambican Renewable Energy Association, in partnership with EDM – Electricidade de Moçambique and with the support of GET.Invest Mozambique – funded by the European Union and Germany, and integrated in the European program GET.Invest are organizing the hybrid event “Storage and Integration of Renewables in the Network in Mozambique” which will take place on May 25th at the Hotel Indy in Maputo, with online transmission.
The goal of the event is not only to present the current state and future developments of renewable energy and electricity grid projects in Mozambique, but also to discuss the tools needed to integrate their production into the national electricity grid, including the storage solutions.
The event will be attended by representatives of MIREME – Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, ARENE – Energy Regulatory Authority and EDM, as well as the main developers of renewable and storage projects in Mozambique and other relevant stakeholders in the energy sector at national and international level.
During the session the existing technical and regulatory framework will be analyzed, sharing the international experience of network managers and presenting the storage options, seeking to highlight the most appropriate to Mozambique and its needs. Representatives of contest programs for storage renewable energy projects will also share their insights.
Approximately 150 participants (in-person and online) are expected from private companies, including promoters of renewable projects and suppliers of storage solutions, national authorities and policy makers in Mozambique, as well as investors, financiers and cooperation partners.
