Mozambique: Terrorists behead two and burn down luxury camp - AIM report
O País
There was uproar among former residents of the Hulene garbage dump area in the country’s capital when they heard that the demolition of their homes was underway.
They immediately left their accommodation centre and went to the dump to demand an explanation from the municipal and environmental authorities responsible for their removal and resettlement.
In the meantime, the demolitions continued, and a police presence became necessary to prevent frayed tempers from spilling over. Those who were able, salvaged what reusable goods they could, but time was not on their side.
The National Environment Director on the scene said later that this first phase covered the 150 families affected by the collapse of the dump, but his explanations did not convince everyone.
