Homeless man finds abandoned newborn baby in central Maputo – Watch

A homeless man found a newborn baby in refuse on Av. Mártires de Inhaminga in Maputo city’s Bairro Central.
The man promptly took the baby boy to the nearest police station, The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) say the baby is in good health.
As fate would have it, the homeless person was trying to find shelter from the cold of the night when he came across the baby.
The police promptly took the baby to a health unit. A subsequent medical report states that the infant is a healthy new-born.
Women interviewed by Miramar, who had seen the abandoned new-born, expressed disgust at the act.
The abandonment of newborn babies, some found lifeless in garbage containers and others fortunately rescued alive from similar places, is a frequent cause of concern all over the country.
