Developing the Armed Forces in the scientific, doctrinal and technical military dimension should be the focus of the Institute of Defence Studies (ISEDEF), as a military higher education institution.
The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, who yesterday inaugurated Samuel Luluva as the new commander, and David Munongoro, as deputy commander of the institution, pointed to the pursuit of excellence as another challenge not to lose sight of, and instructed the newly sworn in officers to help formulate a national strategic thinking through the study, training, research and dissemination of defence and security issues, taking into account the changes that are taking place in the international defence system.

“If we want to be efficient and produce better results, we must have people who are properly trained and motivated. The short, medium and long-term courses to be promoted by ISEDEF should help the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) to improve their performance, while ensuring national independence, the sovereignty and the integrity of the country, “said Nyusi .
Filipe Nyusi, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), called on ISEDEF to encourage greater collaboration with the FDS to identify areas for courses to be taught to officers.
At the same ceremony, Samuel Luluva was promoted to Major-General. Aldo Fumo, currently serving as director of the Department of Reconnaissance of the General Staff of the FADM, was promoted to Brigadier.
