The Supreme Court on Wednesday (10-03) ruled on the appeal submitted by the co-defendants in the ‘hidden debts’ case against the ruling issued by the Maputo Higher Appeals Court which maintained the indictment by the Judicial Court of the City of Maputo (TJCM).
‘Notícias’ learned from judicial sources that only after the defendants are notified will the ruling of the Supreme Court, in the case of each one of the defendants, be made public.
In its ruling of 5 June 2020, the Maputo Higher Appeals Court mostly maintained the charges issued by the TJCM in case 18/2019.
At the time, the measures of coercion [pre-trial detention] were maintained, except for Amélia Bosse de Caifaz Namburete, whose immediate release was ordered.
It will be known in the next few hours of this Thursday whether all 19 defendants are going to trial.
The defendants detained in the case are Ndambi Guebuza, Gregório Leão, Antonio do Rosario, Bruno Tandane, Renato Matusse, Sidónio Sitoe, Crimildo Manjate, Mbanda Buque Henning, Khessaujee Pulchand, Simione Maumane, Teófilo Nhangumele, Fabiao Mabunda, Naimo Quimbine, Zulficar Aamde, Sergio Namburete, Angela Buque Leão, Ines Moiane Doye and Cipriano Mutota.
Elias Moiane was the only defendant granted bail.
