Mozambique: United Nations disburses four million dollars for Chido victims
Mozambique’s Ministry of Health has announced that from 1 August it is going to begin issuing anti-retroviral drugs quarterly. Currently, the life-prolonging drugs are given to those carrying the HIV virus on a monthly basis.
The measure applies to HIV-positive people who are in a stable condition and is intended to reduce the administrative burden. Currently, more than 800,000 people in Mozambique are receiving the treatment.
The deputy director of the Centre for Drugs and Medical Supplies, Sergio Senny, told Radio Mozambique that each province should choose which health units will distribute the drugs under the new system.
