The chairperson man of the Kenya-based Hass Petroleum Group, Abdinasir Ali Hassan, has revealed that his company is interested in creating a partnership with the Mozambican government in the electricity sector and extractive industry.
According to Hassan – who was speaking to reporters on Monday, in Maputo, after an audience granted to him by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo – the meeting with the President may pave the way for an agreement for new projects.
“We are here to discuss and present a solution for the oil business and the energy sector. We had a very fruitful discussion with the President, to see how we can create partnerships with the governments of Oman and Mozambique, in relation to the energy and oil sector business”, he said.
Hassan added that the Mozambican government expressed interest in starting cooperation with the oil company and the second level of the search for a partnership may soon take place because “Mozambique is a very good country in which to do business”.
“The President received us very well”, said Hassan. “The government is ready for us to work together and we are looking to go to the second level. Mozambique is a country of various opportunities”.
Hassan believes that Mozambique is in a privileged position in southern and eastern Africa because “it has ports that can serve all the countries in the hinterland that are landlocked. It’s in a central position and is a hub where we can do business and work together.”
Based in Nairobi, Hass Petroleum operates in more than 11 countries in East Africa and also has offices in London and Dubai.
