A TAP plane failed to land at Bissau’s Osvaldo Vieira airport on Wednesday “due to bad weather” and returned to Lisbon via Cabo Verde, a source from the company in the Guinean capital told Lusa today.
The plane tried twice to land on the runway of Osvaldo Vieira but failed.
The crew informed the ground support staff that there were “clouds with electrical discharges” in that part of Africa, said the TAP source in Bissau.
The plane tried to land at Dakar airport in Senegal but could not do so and continued to Cabo Verde, where it refuelled to continue its journey back to Lisbon.
TAP has three flights a week between Lisbon and Bissau.
The airline will combine the two flights into a single flight on Thursday, 9 September, said the TAP source in the Guinean capital.
