Mozambique: Government prepares measures to cut fuel prices
SHI will deliver the FLNG vessel to Mozambique by 2021
France-based GTT is to supply the containment system to the floating LNG (FLNG) vessel that Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) will build for the Coral FLNG project off the coast of Mozambique.
The 238,700m3 FLNG new building will integrate eight LNG tanks equipped with the Mark III membrane containment system and will be the second-largest FLNG vessel, after Shell-owned Prelude, which is to be based off Western Australia.
SHI will build the unit for Italian energy firm ENI for delivery in 2021, when it will moor off Mozambique, producing up to 3.4 million tonnes a year (mta) of LNG, all of it contracted to BP.
GTT chairman and chief executive Philippe Berterottière said: “We are very pleased to be part of this new FLNG project. After the recent delivery of the very first FLNG and the up-coming delivery of the largest FLNG ever built, this award demonstrates GTT technologies are the solution of choice for these offshore LNG units.”
