At dawn last Thursday, a group of ten young people set fire to six homes in Nacololo village, Nairoto administrative post, Montepuez district, Cabo Delgado province.
The reasons for the outrage are unknown, much less any link with the insurgents who continue to sow terror, mourning and pain in the province.
Seven youths were detained by the police for alleged participation, one of them the son of a district secretary in that part of the country.
Some Carta de Moçambique sources say that the members of the group are natives of that village, and report that the group shouted in Kiswahili during the attack, as do the terrorists.
The incident rendered six families homeless, while food products were looted from some commercial establishments, leaving the village and that part of Montepuez district in turmoil and anguish.
