Just In: President thanks Trump for $4.7B for Mozambique LNG project
“It is estimated that about 5,000 people out of a total of one million Mozambicans from the district of Moatize, in Tete province, are in Malawi, for several reasons,” reports Rádio Moçambique today, adding that the government intends to implement “an integrated development plan along the border with Malawi to stem the flow of Mozambicans”.
The decision was made on Monday in Maputo during a review headed by President Nyusi of the political situation in the three Mozambican provinces that border Malawi.
Announcing the results to reporters, Deputy Minister of State Administration Roque Silva said that the plan provides for the creation of social infrastructure to curb the exit of Mozambicans to Malawi.
Silva said the government is working to determine the real causes of the Mozambicans’ flight into Malawi.
