Mozambique mulls asking China to rework US$1.4 billion debt after unrest hits economy
The Mozambican government is this year launching a tender to grant a license for the management of Beira Fishing Port, Radio Mozambique reports.
The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries Henriques Bongece, who visited the port on Wednesday.
Bongece explained that the concept behind the revitalisation of Beira Fishing Port was to contribute to the sustainability of the enterprise.
After recent rehabilitation and expansion works costing about US$120 million dollars, the port can now accommodate 16 fishing vessels at a time.
“We will have more jobs, it will be easier for tuna vessels to land their catches, and we also have more vessel moorings. This is a plus for both Sofala province and the country’s development,” he said.
