The Mozambican Ministry of Education and Human Development yesterday signed an agreement with its Education Sector Support Fund (FASE) partners in Maputo to improve the quality of primary education in Mozambique.
Support will come from a line of funding to be made available by a number of donor countries and organizations including Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Canada, Italy, Finland, as well as the Global Partnership for Education, the World Bank and UNICEF.
The memorandum was signed by the Minister for Education and Human Development, Conceica Sortane, who described the aid as “a guarantee” of joint involvement in achieving “inclusive and quality education”, the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM) said.
The Minister’s priorities are improving students basic reading, writing and calculating skills and the systematic training of educational establishment managers.
Represented FASE, Germany’s ambassador to Mozambique, Demev Wolter said that results would be “key to justifying future fund-raising”.
