Mozambique’s Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Kida, is considering authorising the resumption of collective religious services in the country.
Minister Kida explained that any return to collective religious celebrations was dependent on the level of control over the spread of the new coronavirus manifested in the near future.
“Depending on the degree of contamination, and the speed that control of contamination is taking hold, we will see what we can do,” she said.
Minister Kida expressed regret that some religious leaders had been violating the presidential state of emergency decree, and said that punitive measures would be applied to anybody violating Covid-19 prevention rules.
