The elevation of Murrombene district to a municipality may be postponed on economic grounds, President Nyusi has said.
Speaking at a popular rally in Murrombene, Inhambane province, the president said a final decision had not yet been taken, but that the process of creating new municipalities may be put on hold because of sustainability problems in the current economic climate.
The district of Murrombene is one of those that is expecting to become a municipality, but may have to wait a little longer since current conditions and similar examples were obliging caution in the matter of decentralisation.
