The Mozambican government on Monday honoured a dozen exporters and investors in the country, an event witnessed by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo.
The awards come as part of the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), an event that began yesterday at Ricatla in Marracuene district, southern Maputo province.
To this end, as the largest exporter for large projects, a classification unique to this issue, the government awarded mining company Vulcan, which has been operating coal mines in the Moatize district, Tete province, central Mozambique, since 2022.
Meanwhile, the southern province of Gaza took the title of Province of Honour yesterday, for showcasing its agricultural, mineral, and tourism potential. South Africa was awarded the title of Country of Honour at the 60th edition of FACIM.

Addressing the winners, President Chapo emphasized that the awards represent more than numbers and contracts, because they tell stories of vision, resilience, and courage. Despite adversities including cyclones, COVID-19, and violent and illegal post-election demonstrations that destroyed public and private assets, entrepreneurs believed in Mozambique, taking risks, innovating and opening new markets.
“These companies continue to firmly trust in this great Mozambique. To the laureates, we extend words of appreciation: your success is a source of national pride and inspiration for the entire Mozambican nation; your example should guide other entrepreneurs, both national and foreign, to believe in their potential and multiply the economic and social impact of their initiatives in Mozambique, believing in this prosperous Mozambique,” the president stated.
Under the motto “Promoting Economic Diversification towards Sustainable and Competitive Development in Mozambique”, at least 2,350 national and 800 international exhibitors, representing 30 countries from around the world, are participating in the 60th edition of FACIM.
The FACIM expo closes on Sunday, August 31.
