Mozambique is advocating for equal treatment of goods in transit within the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), with a view to ensuring full circulation and competitiveness of goods between states with direct access to the sea and those inland.
The wish was expressed by Amido Abdala, central region director of the Mozambique Tax Authority (AT), during an SADC workshop held in the city of Beira, Sofala province, on the SADC Regional Customs Transit Guarantee Regulations (RCTG).
Abdala said that the meeting should not embody only the convergence of actors united by the same cause, but an opportunity to exchange experience, socialisation and debate of ideas underpinning the unhindered circulation of goods in the region.
The three-day event was promoted to strengthen the capacity of administrations to act relevantly in the flow of goods at regional, continental and global levels, through the implementation of the various SADC trade protocols , as well as to reinforce cooperation and management oriented towards better results in the community.
