President Filipe Nyusi met the foreign minister of Malawi, George Chaponda, in Maputo on Friday and took delivery of a message from Malawian president Peter Mutharikha.
At the meeting, which Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Oldemiro Baloi, also attended, the two sides discussed various issues of bilateral interest, particularly the issue of Mozambicans displaced to Malawi.
Baloi and Chaponda told reporters that the parties discussed the best way for the Mozambicans to return home.
The Malawian foreign minister’s visit followed a week after the fact-finding visit to Malawi by Baloi and yesterday Filipe Nyusi held a meeting with government authorities from Tete, reported O País.
The deputy minister of State Administration announced later that day the government’s project to create an integrated development project along the Malawian border.
