Gaza: Seven detained in Limpopo rioting

Seven people, including five women, were arrested on Friday in Limpopo district, Gaza province, on charges of leading a popular demonstration that culminated in the destruction of homes and local public infrastructure.
The demonstration was in retaliation for the death of a person whose funeral took place on Thursday, at the administrative post of Chicumbane, allegedly bewitched by a neighbour and co-worker in neighbouring South Africa.
Three of the detainees are brothers of the deceased, accused of destroying homes and vehicles at the home of the alleged witch doctor.
The other four detainees allegedly instructed children to vandalise the locality secretariat, a secondary school, a teacher’s home, a telecentre and a church, with the aim of securing the release from prison of the first three detainees.
Police spokesperson Carlos Macuácua said that the corporation had already restored public order and tranquillity, and that life had returned to normality in the region.
