Defence and Security Forces (FDS) in the district of Chicualacuala, Gaza province, are reinforcing inspection actions along the border with the Republics of South Africa and Zimbabwe in an attempt to stop illegal immigration.
The measure also aims to stop a wave of cattle theft, a phenomenon that involves communities living along the border line, especially with neighbouring Zimbabwe.
The permanent secretary of the district of Chicualacuala, António Miguel Júnior, said that as a result of the patrol actions, there had recently been no record of illegal immigration along the border with the two countries.
Júnior noted that cattle rustling had also been brought under control, and that relations between communities in Mozambique and in South Africa and Zimbabwe were satisfactory.
