Mozambique: Terrorists claim deaths of 30 soldiers in Macomia district - AIM report
Two members of a gang involved in a string of armed robberies were lynched by an angry mob in the city of Nacala in the northern Mozambican province of Nampula.
According to police spokesperson Zacarias Nacute, the incident took place last week when local people broke into a house where the suspected gangsters were hiding.
Nacute explained, “they were part of a gang that the police have been investigating for some time. They have been responsible for stealing motorbikes, assaulting shop owners and robbing people in their homes using firearms”.
However, he deplored the actions of those who decided to take justice into their own hands and warned that action will be taken.
Nacute added that over the past week a criminal was killed by police during a shootout. He stated that “the police caught him red-handed in the middle of a crime and he was shot when he attempted to escape”. A firearm was recovered from the scene.
