Xipixi is delighted to announce the launch of its online shop through which clients and friends of the brand can acquire products from anywhere in the world.
The adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on physical stores and mobility coupled with technological advancements in e-commerce have stimulated Xipixi’s natural evolution towards an online format of shopping and distribution mechanism.
According to Xipixi’s Founder and Creative Director, António Macheve Jr., the shift towards online shopping will allow clients who have been requesting access to a flexible mode of acquiring Xipixi luxury goods for several years in countries such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda, Côte D’Ivoire, Nigeria, India, and more.
The Xipixi online shop, which was skilfully developed by South-Africa based Kovar Agency, currently has in stock the limited edition Batik robes, luxurious silk pajamas, premium quality slim-fit t-shirts, a new line of bow-ties featuring the new Xipixi Chamanculo monogram and cufflinks made from Mozambican gemstones from the Cabo Delgado region in collaboration with Namuno Gold and Gems.

About XIPIXI
The story
XIPIXI was brought to life in 2012 after António Macheve Jr. returned from New York to his hometown of Maputo where he felt the need to fill a gap in the global menswear industry. Cognizant of the little to non-existence of high-end brands for gentlemen made in Africa for the global market, Macheve Jr. built an insatiable appetite for the development and expansion of the best menswear brand in the world coming from Africa. The designer brand started with a humble $3 which was invested in a pair of shorts and bow-ties by Macheve Jr. while unemployed and is now selling in 12 countries around the world in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.
XIPIXI has showcased collections at Oxford Town Hall in the United Kingdom, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town and Johannesburg by African Fashion International and South African Fashion Week. The brand is widely known for its famous bow-tie, which has been worn and endorsed by A-list celebrities in Hollywood during the 2015 Emmy Awards.

The meaning
XIPIXI means cat in the Shangana language from Southern Mozambique. Cat is universally known as a colloquial expression referring to men. XIPIXI is a lifestyle fashion brand specialized in the production of top quality menswear fashion. Inspired by Rachel Zoe’s idea that “Fashion is saying who you are without having to speak”, XIPIXI aims to give the international gentleman the opportunity to confidently express himself with aesthetically fine garments and accessories.
About the founder
António Macheve Jr. is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar from Mozambique who founded and is Creative Director of XIPIXI. Macheve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Politics from Queens College of the City University of New York and a Master’s of Philosophy in Development Studies from the University of Cape Town.
António was born in Maputo, raised in his hometown, Paris and New York and is currently based in Cape Town. His international upbringing in 3 continents contributes deeply to the DNA of the brand, which celebrates African heritage with touches of bespoke tailoring and modern design in a very unique and original manner. His work designing dates back to the late 1990s when he informally designed sports garments for men inspired by the SOURCE magazine sports campaigns. He continued to learn more drawing techniques to perfect his skills and was inspired by his Arts Teacher, Ms. Ozzure, at Martin Van Buren High School in Queens, New York to continue exploring various drawing and painting techniques. In 2007, his dedication to the arts earned him the Saint Gaude’s Medal for Fine Draughtsmanship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, an award conceded to the most talented young artists of New York City.
