The head of Frelimo in Maputo province, Eduardo Mulémbwè, says Renamo contesting the election results published last Saturday is normal.
Speaking two days after the vice chair of the Matola City Election Commission challenged the official results, Mulémbwè pointed out that this was not the first time that Renamo has disputed election results.
But Mulémbwè made it clear that there was no room for any kind of negotiation with Renamo, since the electorate had relied on Frelimo to direct the destinies of the Matola municipality.
Nevertheless, Renamo in Matola on Tuesday again called the press to contest the official results, reporting that it had already submitted an appeal to the competent authorities.
