Frelimo Congress: Programmed tasks must be performed to perfection – Eliseu Machava

Frelimo General Secretary Eliseu Machava says that all tasks scheduled for the XI Party Congress must be carried out to perfection, and that the ruling party was mobilising its members to avoid failures at every moment of their top meeting.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 7 September Victory Day celebrations, the Frelimo secretary-general said that this would not be the first task of its kind to be entrusted to party members, and the XI Congress would therefore be another moment of celebration while simultaneously defining policies for the development of the country.

“All the stages were prepared from the cell, circle, zone, district, province and at the level of the Central Committee, in a festive atmosphere. Now we are working so that there will be no failures,” Machava said, calling for maximum supporter participation, and not only at the event itself.

Machava said it was because of its capacity for mobilisation and its collective strength that Frelimo had always been victorious and would continue to inculcate its ideas among Mozambicans.

Perusal of documents to be submitted for debate at the XI Congress in sessions led by the central brigades of assistance to the provincial committees came to an end on Sunday. Among the documents discussed were proposals for revising the party’s statutes and five-year programme, the XI Congress regiment and the Central Committee report to the party’s top body.

Machava said that other major challenges, such as maintaining national unity and lasting peace and efforts to increase production and productivity, should not be forgotten. He added that Frelimo expected citizens to understand the importance and value of everyone participating in meeting the challenges that the country faced.
