Frelimo condemns shooting of Manuel Bissopo

Frelimo condemns the shooting of the secretary general of Renamo, Manuel Bissopo, who is continuing to receive medical care in a clinic in Beira, Sofala province, reports Folha de Maputo.
Frelimo spokesman, Damiaon Jose, expressed hope that Bissopo would recover quickly and return to the bosom of his family and party, to resume making his contribution to the political life of the country in opposition.
“This is a criminal action which we deeply regret. Of course, we condemn any action that jeopardizes the life of our citizens,” Jose is quoted by Lusa as saying.
The Renamo secretary-general was shot by unknown assailants on Wednesday afternoon in Beira, his bodyguard dying at the scene of the attack. As of yesterday he was in a stable condition and being treated in a private medical clinic in Beira, according to Renamo sources.
