Mozambique: Minister meets Venâncio Mondlane's delegation on legalising new party Anamalala
The Nampula City Elections Commission has just released the preliminary results of the vote on January 24 for the election of the mayor of Nampula City Council.
According to the president of the Electoral Commission of the city city of Nampula, Martinho Marcelino, 73 852 voters voted, and Paulo Vahanle Renamo candidate got 28,930 votes, corresponding to 40.38 percent of the expressly valid votes, Amisse Coloco of Frelimo got 31,980 votes corresponding to 44.5 percent.
The other three candidates
None of the candidates obtained more than 50 percent of the votes. The Law establishes that a second round between the first and second most voted candidates be held.
Abstention stood at 222,778, corresponding to 75 percent.
