Four South African tourists have disappeared while swimming off Portuguese Island near Maputo. A fifth was rescued alive.
A councillor from Kanyaka City, near Portuguese Island, said the incident happened on Monday, and revealed that the victims were two couples.
The group set off on a boat from the Maputo Nautical School and took a break for a meal on Inhaca Island, then sailed on to Portuguese Island.
The victims were part of a group of eight South African tourists.
Several government entities are involved in the search, including a helicopter belonging to a private individual.
