Mozambique: The concrete pavement on Avenida Nações Unidas is being destroyed three years later - ...
Mozambique’s Central Anti-Corruption Office (GCCC) has indicted four Ministry of Justice officials on charges of misusing six million meticais (EUR 83,500 euros), the Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reports today.
Citing the content of the GCCC’s indictment, Noticias writes that the four employees falsified cheques and documents, channelling money from the Registry and Notary Bank into a specially created account.
The account used had a designation very similar to that used by the Registry and Notary Bank, a Ministry of Justice entity that manages the funds collected from fees and other payments to the registries and notary.
The fraud was detected by the Ministry of Justice, which reported it to the GCCC. The four defendants are to be tried by the Maputo City Judicial Court soon.
