Nearly 400 young Mozambicans will benefit from internship programmes in companies based in Beluluane Industrial Park in the Province of Maputo.
In a first phase, 90 students from Wutivi University will be candidates for internship into the 35 companies that are based in the Industrial Park, according to the recently signed agreement between Unitiva and Beluluane Industrial Park. The internship will be from three to six months.
This is a two year project in partnership with JOBA and funded by UK DFID, during which 40% of the professional internships will be awarded to female candidates. The priority for the programme as requested by the Industrial Park, will be for students or graduates from universities in the surrounding areas of Beluluane Industrial Park, namely Matola, Boane and Beluluane. Once the interns manage to demonstrate professional skills, they may be eligible for an opportunity to be contracted by the respective companies. Mechanics, Electricity, Human Resources and Legal Affairs are some of the areas where interns may be integrated.
At the end of this period, Beluluane Industrial Park has indicated that it will have put in place mechanisms that will enable the duplication of the program, providing more employment opportunities for young people.
Inocente Mutimucuio, Dean of Wutivi, says the project meets the needs of students who seek employment opportunities or who seek to acquire experience for better integration in the job market, which in recent times has been a problem due to circumstantial factors.
