The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) has named the former spokeswoman for the National Immigration Service (SENAMI) Cira Fernandes as defendant in alleged visa forgery, an official source said today.
“The information we have is that [Cira Fernandes] is being prosecuted in the visa falsification process,” SENAMI spokesman Celestino Matsinhe said.
The SERNIC investigation by the Mozambican police (PRM) suggests that the former spokeswoman has facilitated the granting of 17 false visas to citizens of Nigerian nationality, in a case where Fernandes is the only one indicted.
Lusa contacted Fernandes, who refused to comment.
