Angola: 'Black cloud' of Mozambique post election conflict passed - president
Former Renamo parliament member and also former member of the Council of State, Manuel Francisco Lole ,was kidnapped in the late morning of Tuesday, in Chimoio, Manica province, central Mozambique, reports Canalmoz.
The victim’s wife, cited by Canalmoz, says that two double cabin vehicles (one white, the other grey) parked at her home and two armed men got out of the car and went to get her husband from inside the house. Perceiving the strange move, his wife came out to check what was going on. When she came out, she saw her husband being dragged into the car by two men. She asked where were they taking her husband and why,. The men would have responded that Manuel Lole was to be needed in Maputo [to meet] the president.
Meanwhile, a Lusa report cites Renamo’s provincial delegate in Manica, Sofrimento Matequenha as saying that Lole’s wife was threatened with death if she tried to stop the kidnappers.
