A former delegate of Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), in Sofala province, is under investigation by the Provincial Office to Combat Corruption.
The former manager, whose identity has not been revealed, is being investigated over alleged unlawful charges for his own benefit amounting to 800,000 meticais (around US$13,000 at current exchange rates).
A spokesman for the Provincial Anti-Corruption Office in Sofala, João Chona, said that in order to obtain this amount, the defendant would supposedly charge about 20,000 meticais monthly to a company that had rented a counter to provide cleaning services.
In a press conference, João Chona also revealed that the institution ordered the arrest of an inspector of Beira Municipal Council, caught making illicit collections.
